Army Careers Visit

Latest News

Our students have recently taken part in an assembly regarding careers in the army.

Students were given information about the entry requirements before an individual joined the army.  Lance Corporal Harry Fairbrother explained to the students that the entry requirements were different depending on the age and qualifications held of the candidate.  He discussed with the students the fitness tests that would be undertaken and what support the army provided to candidates interested in applying.

Harry spoke to the students about the apprenticeship opportunities within the army.  He explained that the army will pay you to learn a skill and support you to get your qualifications.  This means that when you leave the army, soldiers have skills to re-enter the workplace outside of the army.  Examples given by Lance Corporal Fairbrother were plumbing, electrics, veterinary and medical work.

The students in both assemblies asked thoughtful questions, demonstrating a real interest in potential army careers.

Lance Corporal Fairbrother commented, “Students were brilliant, and all were very engaged.”

He has offered to remain as a contact point for students who wish to take their interest further.

Thanks to Lance Corporal Fairbrother for giving up his time and sharing his knowledge about army life and experiences.  He has certainly seen a lot of the world!
