Nurture – Climbing Wall

This week, Nurture headed to the climbing wall at the YMCA, and they rose to the challenge. It was clear this was more than just a physical activity. It was a lesson in resilience, trust, and confidence.

Participants encouraged one another, problem-solved their way up the wall, and kept going even when the climb felt tough. Some reached the top quickly, others took their time, but everyone showed determination and courage. Falls turned into learning moments, and hesitation turned into triumph.

What stood out most was how good they were at supporting each other and bouncing back. The climbing wall became a powerful reminder that resilience isn’t about never struggling, it’s about trying again, believing in yourself, and knowing your community has your back.

With resilience being a key focus in this Half Terms PSHE lesson, students were able to see firsthand what it means to keep going, even when something feels challenging.

Year 11 – Padel

Year 11 students recently took part in a highly engaging Padel session that combined physical activity with skill development and strategic thinking. The experience offered students the opportunity to explore a fast-growing sport while developing coordination, teamwork, and tactical awareness in a structured and enjoyable environment.

The session began with a series of carefully planned drills aimed at introducing the fundamental techniques of Padel. Students focused on ball control, movement, positioning, and the effective use of the surrounding walls. These preparatory exercises allowed students to build confidence, refine their skills, and gain a clear understanding of the mechanics and rules of the game before progressing to competitive play.

Following the drills, students applied their learning during a match, where they demonstrated impressive levels of cooperation, communication, and resilience. The dynamic nature of the game encouraged problem-solving and adaptability, and the atmosphere on court was both focused and enthusiastic.

Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

“The session was really enjoyable — learning a new sport was good fun.”
