Sixth Form Taster Day: A Great Success!

Latest News

Our recent Sixth Form taster morning was filled with energy, creativity and hands-on learning as pupils explored what life in our Post-16 provision is all about.

We began the day with Six Bricks, a fun and engaging activity designed to build problem-solving skills, teamwork and focus. Everyone enjoyed the challenge and there was plenty of laughter as pupils experimented with different ways to complete the tasks.

Next, we moved into Science, where marshmallows and spaghetti became our building materials of choice! Pupils worked together to design and construct sturdy structures, testing their ideas and showing great creativity. This practical activity encouraged resilience, communication and engineering thinking.

In PSHE, we explored the sugar content of everyday foods and drinks. Pupils were surprised to discover how much sugar is hidden in common items and discussed how this affects energy levels, concentration and sleep. It was a valuable session that connected directly to wellbeing and healthy habits.

We finished the morning with a fitness assessment in BTEC Sport, where pupils tested their strength, balance and endurance. This not only gave them insight into the course content but also helped them understand how fitness contributes to overall health.

Overall, it was a fantastic morning filled with enthusiasm, learning and plenty of smiles. We’re excited to see so many young people exploring their next steps and engaging with our Post-16 opportunities.

Well done to everyone who took part!
