A group of Year 11 students took a well-deserved break from their busy schedules to visit Furry Friends Farm in Stone—a local sanctuary known for its wonderful team of emotional support animals. The visit offered students a chance to unwind, connect with nature and experience first-hand the calming benefits that spending time with animals can bring.
Upon arrival, students were greeted by the friendly staff and an assortment of furry residents—from gentle guinea pigs and playful goats to friendly dogs and cuddly rabbits. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and it didn’t take long for everyone to start smiling.
Throughout the day, students learned about the important role emotional support animals play in improving mental health and well-being. Many enjoyed grooming, feeding and simply sitting quietly with the animals, noticing how calm and comforted they felt. For some, it was a chance to take a mindful pause from exam preparation and everyday pressures—and to reconnect with something simple and grounding.
The staff at Furry Friends Farm also shared stories about how animals can help people manage anxiety, boost confidence and build empathy. It was inspiring to see how the students responded.
A huge thank you to Furry Friends Farm for welcoming our students so warmly, and to all the staff who helped make the day such a memorable and meaningful experience.
