Post-16 students worked hard this week to complete their Level 3 qualification in Basic First Aid.
This qualification was important as it will provide the students with valuable skills which they can use in life. The students will also be able to promote this qualification when they are applying for jobs when they leave our college.
The students were trained on how to resuscitate a person who was no longer breathing and how to look after a person who was suffering from anaphylactic shock. They learnt about the body and how the lungs, heart, veins and arteries work. The course was challenging and the students spent the day learning the information needed to pass the test and complete their qualification.
At the end of the day, the students were assessed on their skills and their knowledge of first aid skills. The students had to complete resuscitation on the resuscitation manikin and ask general questions to assess someone’s medical need, including placing someone in the recovery position. We are pleased to announce that all the students who completed the course passed.
